Outside Advisory Council

 

As a church plant, Sovereign Grace is still in the process of training men to be elders.  In the interim, we have set up an outside advisory council to serve as oversight for our church.  These men are comprised of pastors and leaders from other churches.  They serve to provide godly council to our pastor as he leads with the assistance of our own leadership team.  Our desire is to be continually identifying, training, and ordaining men as elders.  To find out more about our view of elders and the assessment / training process, please read this letter from our pastor and the description of our assessment / training process.

	Brian Howard is the Lead Pastor of Copperhill Church in Santa Clarita, Ca.  He is also the regional director of Acts 29 for California, Hawaii, and Nevada.  Further, Brian coaches several church planters, including our pastor.  He is a man deeply marked by God's Word and rich in wisdom in how to lead in God's church.  He is married to Chandra and is the father of 4 children. 	Sam Ticas is pastor of community groups at Copperhill Church in Santa Clarita.  Sam is a gifted pastor and leader.  He is a man after God's own heart who has a God-given gift of insight and wisdom.  He is married to  Dina and is the father of 3 children. (661) 775-9598 sticas@copperhillchurch.org
	Joel Heppner is Associate Pastor of Missions at RiverLakes Community Church.  Joel is a man of God who provides an incredible example of being dedicated to the Lord, His church, and the Word.  He is married to Tammy and is the father of 9 children. (661) 589-9733 joelh@riverlakeschurch.org
	Randy Martin is the Teaching Pastor of Covenant Presbyterian Church and the Bible Department Chair of Bakersfield Christian High School.  Randy is an example of consistent, faithful service to the Lord and His church.  He has a passion to see the theology of the Reformation take root in God's church in Bakersfield.  He is married to Julia and is the father of 4 children. randymartin@solarnet-rd.com
	Kevin Lewis is Associate Professor of systematic theology and law at Biola University.  He is deeply committed to training the leaders of God's church to be committed to the Word and to the doctrines of the Reformation.  Kevin is also a bar certified attorney and is the founder and president of the Evangelical Law Institute.  He is married to Elizabeth and is the father of 2 children.
