Chad's Book List
Biography
David Martyn Lloyd-Jones The First Forty Years 1899-1939: This is the 1st of a two volume series on the life of one of my heroes of the faith. It is a highly encouraging and well written biography. I highly recommend reading both volumes.
David Martyn Lloyd-Jones: The Fight of Faith 1939-1981:
Foxe's Book of Martyrs: A History of the Lifes, Sufferings, and Triumphant Deaths of the Early Christian and the Protestant Martyrs (Hendrickson Christian Classics): A classic accounting of the martyrdom of many of our brothers and sisters in Christ. I encourage everyone to read these stories of faith.
Biblical Theology
God's Big Picture: Tracing the Story-Line of the Bible: This is a great introduction to Biblical theology. I recommend every Christian take the time to become familiar with the storyline of the Bible.
According to Plan: The Unfolding Revelation of God in the Bible: This another great book on Biblical theology. This book is a longer treatment than Vaughn Roberts book. I would recommend it as a great follow up book for those who want a more intermediate level study.
Hermeneutics
Topical
SYSTEMATIC THEOLOGY: An Introduction to Biblical Doctrine: The best introduction to systematic theology for new theology students available today.
Let the Nations Be Glad! 2d ed.: Another great book by John Piper. This one deserves special mention as a great book on why we do missions.
Bibles
The Reformation Study Bible: English Standard Version: Looking for a good Bible? I recommend you pick up the Reformation Study Bible: ESV. It also comes in leather.
For Kids
The Jesus Storybook Bible: Every Story Whispers His Name: This is a great introduction to the storyline of the Bible for your children. If you combine it with "The Big Picture Story Bible," you have a great introduction to Biblical Theology---even for you adults.
The Big Picture Story Bible: The other great book every parent should read to their children.
